Interesting, yes.

But I'm a cynic - I've seen this before. Since he's southbound, I'll let you know if he lasts long enough to meet me. Or maybe if I last long enough to meet him.

I'm interested in following this trip as well. Adding a mule will lessen his burden as far as carrying a load, but adds complexity. Same as using the pioneer gear... This is a big undertaking... I'll be following this one closely!

In the Wind Rivers during the late 70's we hiked with three brothers and a mule from Leadville,Co who were doing the CDT in three sections. They carried bow and arrow (both flu/flu and fishing rig) to supplement their menu. Though they didn't restrict themselves on clothing or gear their trip was still interesting.

At Big Sandy one brother hitched a ride with us to Rock Springs so that he could go back and pick up their truck. The other two kept on trail and planned on meeting up with him later.

I wish the PCT hiker all the best and plan on following his blog as his adventure unfolds.
