    Default Dick's Creek Gap to Winding Stair Gap

    Will be heading out to walk this section starting this coming Monday...looks like we're gonna get wet. New section for me....any thoughts...pointers... do's or don'ts appreciated. Hope to see ya'll on the trail. cheers, bill

    Well, it's uphill...a lot. Pack light. There is a good spring at the NC line (to your right as you are headed north) and water can be iffy for a while headed north from there.

    With all of the recent rain, water is pretty good right now.

    The trail starts getting flattened out a few miles beyond the border line into NC. The trail won't be too wet a day afte the rainfall. The water sources are abundent. Be prepared for the rain!

    There is almost always good water north of the state line several miles at Muskrat CREEK Shelter. This is a nice section. Will be hiking Dick's Creek Gap to Rock Gap over Memorial Day weekend. Have fun and please provide a short trip report if you can! Thanks.
