From the center of Texas, I'm taking the bus for 2+ days... It goes all the way to Medway while anything else (train or plane) needs a bus from Bangor or Portland to medway anyway. I'm not sure what the going price is... it was $91 when I first checked it out, but I paid $112 by the time I booked.
july 23
bus to bangor from midwest and have been offered a ride to baxter from a a fellow WBer
Taking a rent a car from San Antonio, TX to Bangor,ME on the 7th then Cyr Bus Lines to Medway then shuttle to to the trail lodge.

i donno exactly when i'm starting (looking good for early to mid july) but will be getting a ride from the Wash DC area all the way to the trail head in Baxter. then picked up that afternoon after Katahdin and back to wherever... then back to the AT the next day to begin walking south. get at me folks as our schedules may work out. peace.
I'm departing around the 15th, coming from New Jersey
I'm leaving July 11th from New Orleans. Flying to Bangor, cyr bus to Medway, hitch or cab to Baxter SP. Flight and bus schedules put me on Kathadin July 13th...
well another new kid on the block, but still sorting out all the details, and hopefully starting out during the middle of july!
as for the details, im working on the cash and planning, but more importantly, gear... traveling through costa rica this past winter i had all my stuff stolen...including some well loved and severely missed items. i'd love suggestions for pack size, stove type, and where i can find the best decent priced, GOOD, raingear...preferably gortex...
Start date 18 July, less than two months off... I'll be in the country 3 days then on the trail, no muckin around!

Goretex, are you sure?? there are lighter, more packable alternatives...
