I was wondering if i need both a map and a guidebook for an E2E? Also...which guide book is better...the End to Enders guide or the Long Trail Guide?
Thanks in Advance,
JOMO

I'd use both.
And a guidebook is essential, so you know about re-supply places, road crossings, campsites, water sources, etc.
go with the end to enders guide and the long trail map. that's what i did

thanks for the info...just ordered the E2E guide and the map...
I hiked the LT end-to-end with the map and the E2E guide. I left the Long Trail Guide at home. I wish I had taken it, though. This sentence on page 220, "Pass through a snow fence and cross a water pipeline, then enter the woods and turn right to descend steeply to Ullrs Dream ski trail." would have saved me almost two hours of frustration and about a mile and a half of unnecessary walking.
"I don't much care where [I get to] --" said Alice, "-- so long as I get somewhere," ...
"Oh, you're sure to do that," said the Cat, "if you only walk long enough."
