Excepting your thread, there are at least 31 other threads on the JMT. If you use the handy-dandy search function, you'll probably find more info than in the threads.

Go here, open the From The pull-down menu, select beginning and click on the show threads button to display a menu of all the threads in the forum. The default value is considerably less.
I don't understand why people say "John Muir Trail" and expect everybody to know WHICH one they are talking about!

Better sources for JMT info and much more active places are the Yahoo group (about 10-20 emails per day), or western forums where the JMT may not be the main subject, but everyone there can tell you what you need to know.
