no not for me I can see too many bad things happeing to me if I had one of those. What keeps it closed when it in the pocket? If it's the fact that it is pushed al the way back in the crease then what happesn if it slides forward or you have it on teh left hand pocket?

no I like all my parts where they are right now...attatched and I think I'm going to try to keep them that way.

you can easily mod most knives to open on the way out of the pocket, especially spyderco knives.

On the AT, that's about as useful as teats on a bull.

No thanks - nothing I need a knife to do needs to happen that fast.

Never a fan of that type of knife. Never felt safe to me. But Emerson knives are fantastic pieces of steel. Real quality blades.

I'm a RAT man myself. I'm a big fan of their Izula knife. Good piece of steel without being too heavy or looking rambo-esque.

just give my old school buck or case knife and I'm a happy camper...ok and my trusty p-38 can opener just in case.

MY Gerber CAN be opened that fast but why?

If someone is attacking you out on the trail then a knife isn't going to do much unless it is a huge knife. I've been stabbed by accident with a 3" blade and the stabbing wasn't the bad part. The hospital and the questions, etc... were worse. Every stabbing and shooting are reported as crimes from the hospitals. Then Barney Fife gets to decide if its legit or not.

If you don't carry automatic knives or guns, things go much smoother with the police.

Now there is something I saw that might excite the u-lers out there:

But I must say you are safer on the trail statistically than in a city.
