    Default CT Fuel Canisters

    Hi ya, Hikers,

I'm planning to thru the CT this late summer/fall and am wondering about the specific availability of (MSR/Jet Boil type) fuel canisters along the route.

I've read Mr. Mags' site and comments and have emailed him re: this question.

I am familiar with mailing canisters, having done so to several locations along the AT in '08, and will mail to the CT if need be.

    Info is much appreciated.

I'll just copy and paste what I wrote you.

In general, you should be able to find fuel canisters in:

    Denver area
    Breck or Frisco
    Leadville
    B Vista
    Salida
    Creede
    Durango

EDIT: And I just updated my doc with this info...

Hmm...I guess buying canisters should not be too hard afterall

Just takes a little more planning than the AT.

Ok, Mr. Mags... Following your lead, here's what I found out. Took about an hour on the phone. Most had 4 oz (MSR and Jet Boil) and 8 oz MSR canisters.

    Denver area - Pick one!
    Breckenridge - Mt Outfitters - 970-453-2201
    Leadville - Bill's Sporting Goods - 719-486-0739
    Buena Vista - Trailhead Sports - 719-395-8002
    Salida - Salida Mt Sports - 719-539-4400
    Creede - San Juan Sports - 719-658-2482

In Durango, I'd call Gardenswarts first. However, as I'm SOBO I won't need to get a canister there.

    Thanks for the prompts, Mags.

    See you in the colors!

Thanks for the work! It is info like this that helps me keep the guide current. I'll be sure to add it and add a "THANKS"
