Default Conditions between Pearisburg and Catawba

    Hello, All,

My wife and I are headed out next week to do the stretch between Pearisburg and Catawba, and we were wondering how conditions are in that section, particularly how the water sources are doing. Thanks to everyone who provided help earlier, by the way.

    Default Plenty of rain lately.

While I can't verify sources on the trail, we have had ample rain in the area within the last week. Good amounts of rain Friday and today. Now it looks like the week ahead should hold some fair weather. I live near Pearisburg. Prior to that, we have had a higher than usual amount of precipitation throughout the spring and probably about average during the summer. I imagine sources this upcoming week should be okay, but perhaps you can get a report from someone who has just passed through or is passing through.

I did that stretch earlier this summer. Its a very nice section, and the descent of Dragon's Tooth will be one you'll always remember. It is so steep at places that ladders are provided. You'll have a blast.

We've had plenty of rain so far this summer in VA.
