Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

I realized this trip that I have a comfort level on the AT that I do not have on other trails. On the AT I don't carry maps or compass, just a summary data sheet. This summer I took a blue blazed approach trail to the AT. It was only 2 miles long, but I felt like I was going in circles, and off the trail, which made me very uncomfortable. I was at ease once I found the familiar white blaze.
