    Default Gallery ?

Has any one found the gallery uploading process to be clunky?

Might just be me. Very pokey and frustrating.

    Sometimes it's a little slow

Works better in the AM. Didn't "invalid" me, but it can be slow as you said.

I think it would help if you would compress you image files. The last one you posted was 2 megs, that a huge file for an image. Mine are about 1/10 that size.

Compressing image files requires additional software, but it sure pays off in the long run, like when you email a photo or insert it into a document.

I might have that. What is it called or where do I find it in this box?

    Feel free to say "Doh."

You might have to buy additional software, I say that because I have heard that some cameras will compress image files for you.

I use a program called Paint Shop Pro. It's a bit difficult to learn but if you play with it long enough you can start to figure it out. But I can understand why most folks would rather not deal with it.

Anyway, to answer your orginal question, I think most of your problems on uploads are due to file size. It might be easier just to deal with the delays in uploading rather than learn a new software program.

Hope that helps, and keep posting the photos. Your gallery looks great.

There are online optimizers/compressors that are free. Here is one: http://www.imageoptimizer.net/Home.aspx

This one only compresses one image at a time, but there may be other solutions online. Just google for them and see which one works best. No need to purchase any software.

    Irfan view.

    Quick, simple and free.

Good for basic photo edits and will do batch resizing of photos quickly.

It is NOT a Photoshop replacement..nor does it pretend to be. It is good for those quick and dirty photo chores that a full blown photo program is too slow and/or cumbersome for.

(Note..it is for Windows. I do not know of a Mac equivalent. Sorry.)

    You mean fumble around with.

Thanks for all the varied replies. Sorry about the big files in advance to anyone with a slow connection.

So where is that borrowable 15 year old when you need 'em.
