    Default I finished my thru-hike!

I'm back! I summited Katahdin on 30 July, after starting from Springer on 1 March.

So how long does it take for my knees to stop cracking when I walk?

    Default congrats!

Congratulations on your finished hike...give it about another 4-6 months for your knees to feel better!

By the way, great pics on your trailjournals site. I enjoyed looking at them.

Thanks! I just finished uploading the last of my pictures, including my "handstand in a kilt" picture on the summit. (How I've missed this dancing banana!)

    Default Finished thru hike

Congratulations on finishing. Do you happen to know what number you were to finish this year? I know not everyone who thru hiked had a journal, so I'm curious.

    Congratulations Hauki !!

I remember when you were weighing your pack on Sunday, February 29th...23 pounds if I remember correctly....did you maintain this type of average weight for the trip?

I remember taking this picture at Kincora, I assume you still have the beard and the kilt.

    Hi, 'Ku!

So, what'd you write at Katahdin??

Answers to other questions, in no particular order:

I think I was around number 40 for finishing.

My base pack weight went up, from 9lbs. to 14lbs. Gotta keep comfortable! I got a new pack, camp shoes, and traded my tarp for a hammock.

I still have the beard, and always the kilt.

    Default Congrats!

Hey Haiku - Congratulations! I met you in the bookstore at Big Meadows and we chatted for a bit. I'm still planning on 05, although it probably won't be a thru but a 3-month section. Still, any time out is good time.

Good luck with all your future endeavors. Great photo!

    Hi Haiku
After seeing you at The Cabin in East Andover you finished faster than I did. I summited Katahdin on August 6th. Had a great hike, but it was good to finish too.

I had a little excitement near the end of my hike by falling into the Big Wilson while fording it. By the time I got out of the river I found I lost my wallet. At the time I was only 10 miles into the 100 mile wilderness and had a total of 41 cents in change. I decided to continue northward. With a little help from other thruhikers I had a good finish.

Other thru hikers to finish on the 6th were First Light, Rainbow Bright, Unfinished, Chris Wren, Jenny Wren, and Wolf Wind. Also climbing Katahdin were Chewy finishing the second half of his hike, and First Lights father, B 4 First Light who hiked the 100 mile wilderness.

What a great way to spend 150 days.

    Thumbs up Congratulations!

Awesome handstand! I met you on Bromley and enjoyed hiking with you for a morning, alas I was section hiking and not in shape to keep up with the likes of you, Mouth and Tarzan. I went by the name Riddler. I enjoyed reading your Haiku entries through NH and Maine. I got a picture somewhere, I will try to email you with it.
