Default Things you don't want on the table....

First of all, Happy Thanksgiving to everyone, and hope you all have a safe and happy holiday.

That being said, assuming you're a guest somewhere this week, i.e. you have no real say on what is or is not being served.........what's the ONE item you absolutely don't wanna see on the table, i.e. something you just have no use for, yet it pops up every damned year?

OK, naming one is too hard. Let's give you five.

    To get started:

*That indescribably nasty sweet potato/marshmallow thing. I would rather be
    waterboarded than eat this stuff.
    *Turnips.
*That funked out jello mold (you know, the light green one with the mandarin
oranges and other stuff suspended inside it).
    *Three bean salad.
*Beets in any way shape or form.

I loves me my sweet potatos w/ marshmellows. I don't come to Thanksgiving if it's not being served.

theres a pub across the way with whisky and beer
its a lengthy journey on the way up to the top
but it ain't so bad if you have a great big bottle o'scotch

    Signing off for a bit.

Sorry if anyone was offended with my comments about the sweet potato/marshmallow thing. (Which really IS disgusting).

Funny......no matter what YOU might really like, someone else really hates it, and vice versa, example how can The Goat possibly hate green bean casserole with Campbell's Mushroom soup and French's Onions. To me, that IS Thanksgiving.

Anyway, hope everyone has a healthy and happy one, be careful on the road.

Well being Italian, we always celebrated Thanksgiving with lasagna shaped in the form of a turkey..........That said:

    1- Pea casserole
    2- mushy asparagus
    3- canned cranberry sauce
    4- fruitcake
    5- anything from Aunt Ethel

I could eat this stuff all day.

I hate the green bean casserole. The beans are always overcooked into a mush. Then on top of that I love french fried onions, but they are ruined when they get put on the casserole.

Canned green beans with chunks of undercooked bacon. Yuck! Just leave out the green beans and serve the bacon.

Any form of Jello whatsoever. Especially with unidentifiable object suspended in it.

I like beets and some sweet potato!

Things I do not want to see:
    1. That fruit salad jello mold thing.
    2. That goopy fruity marshmallowy thing (ambrosia? Food of the Gods? I think not.)
    3. Tofurky- who the heck thought tofu shaped like a turkey would be good was nuts...
    4. Any fake meat (does not belong in Thanksgiving! )
    5. That's about it!

Things I do want to see:
    1. Turkey
    2. Bacon
    3. Pecan Pie
    4. Turkey and Bacon
    5. Pecan Pie
    6. Those carrots with maple syrup on 'em (so good)

As long as there is mashed potatoes and dressing and gravy, I could care less what else is on the table.

If I could get thru Thursday without seeing my cousins husband across the table that would be spectacular.
    What? Me worry??

Pecan pie is great, but chocolate pecan pie is greater.
We went to "Junior League Sweet Potatoes" instead of the marshmallow thing years ago. Sweet enough to serve for desert, but man do I love them.

we have wild turkey every year since i was able to carry a gun. The first time I had wild turkey ,I forgot to clean out the "craw" and we had an extra portion of baked corn. It was very bad and i do not want to see that "craw corn" ever again! That being said the wild turkay beats the Butter Ball every time for flavor.

    Happy Thanksgiving to all
