A black video? Really? What exactly do you mean? Yes, the butt of the "jokes" in this video are aimed at the silly folks who encounter Underwood's character, but the video isn't some sort of advocacy statement. It's simply a funny piece that plays off of a well known stereotype. Like it or not, the diverse ethnic makeup of our population doesn't seem to carry over to hiking.

The video is certainly subject to numerous interpretations, like most interesting videos. But I continue to think that this particular video seeks to get us white folks to see things from a black perspective.

I have a very good black friend that will not go hiking with me because he says the mountains are full of rednecks. I showed him the video and he fell out laughing. He shared it with everyone he knows...

I can only remember one time I've encountered a black person on any trail. It was a young woman with a group of hikers - - in Argentina.

Well. I don't really qualify as "upper class white." I never earned more than $35,000 a year. My folks earned much, much less.

I was taught that "upper class" had to do with how one lived, one's intellectual capacity, and one's gift to the world in the form of betterment of society, for instance. In my book that makes you very "upper class," Weary.

It had nothing to do with money other than how one chose to spend it.

one of my best friends from high school sent me a message tonight asking me when i was going to take him hiking with me. i said wait til april cause winter's a bitch if you don't have the right gear. you know what he said? haha! and i quote.. "i can go in the winter. i'm from the ghetto. i can take anything."
if y'all want to see a black man in the woods then hike the bmt come february.
