Been gone from here a while but just checking in to see who is on the Florida Trail these days.
I have been hiking the central area. Two weekends ago, when it was nice and cool, I headed up to Farles Prarire. When I got there, I sat down waiting on my ride which was hours away, so I started a nice little fire right down at the lake. Sat there overlooking it for hours. Went into the woods to get some firewood and there stands a nice black bear. He ran off into the woods only about 20 feet then turned and just watched me. It was awesome.
I love the woods after a rain and when it is cool.

bumpjumper, welcome back from your hiatis!!....february cant come soon enough for me. i should be in florida somwhere around the 14th or so. i got the 500 around the 18th and after that smooth sailing on the florida trail for the rest of the month.....peace
