No help from me, unfortunately. Wish I could. But a report when you get back would be greatly appreciated!

I talked to Bilge Rat today, he is in Franklin. As of this afternoon 441 through the park is closed. Don't imagine it will open anytime soon from the looks of the forecast.

Here's a good link about weather in GSMNP http://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/weather.htm.

There's a phone number you can call with recorded information about current weather conditions, links to the NWS for that area and general info about weather in the park year round.

We just got back from the NOC today and hiked about six miles north and then back yesterday. Conditions were horrible. Ankle deep snow once we got about 4600 feet in elevation. My suggestion is to stay home, dry and safe.

Here is the number that you can call to give you road conditions. I know they got almost a foot of snow on Mt. Leconte

Possibly Xmas eve. Supposed to rain here but snow in upper elevations. Temps are going to go up and melt alot of the snow. Should be fine next week

yea I know. I hope some of it is still there when I start a trip on the 1st. If it turns out to be too much to handle, we'll just change out plans around. Not a big deal.
