Honestly I wouldn't bother. By Neel Gap you'll want to send it home...

I'd rather make one of out that silver bubble wrap stuff. Actually, I'll probably make one for freezer bag cooking.

Party - you'd want a Nissan 1 litre Vacuum thermos Stainless Steel. Too heavy for regular use. Great for cold weather though.
It would keep you coffee hot all night, but it is an extra 1.5 lbs to carry.

As for making a thermos from reflectix over a water bottle. You'll get about 3 hours out and your hot coffee will be lukewarm and cold by dawn. Definitely not good enough for overnight. I tried a number of different ways to make a reflectix thermos, but just couldn't get it to keep liquids hot. Even in Bitter winter single digits climbing, Boiling water in my lexan Nalgene in my reflectix cozy would be slush by lunch time...

While I love my thermos for deep winter activities, I'd never take it on a three-season thru-hike.

There was a half liter Titanium thermos made at one point..Retail? $200! For some reason, people weren't scooping them up like hotcakes. They are no longer made. For almost 10x the price of a standard vacuum .5 liter thermos (~$25), you purchased a nine ounce tochtke. FWIW, the standard .5 liter Thermos is about 11oz, the Ti thermos is 9 oz. Or..about $100 per ounce saved.

You carry a thermos with you and that's going to be your trail name.

Build one out of Aerogel? I don't know where to get it though, aside from ToastyFeet Aerogel insoles or POE sleeping pads.

Thumbs up UL Thermos: Inexpensive stainless steel bottle in an aerogel cozy

TAASI Aerogel Technologies maybe the product on the lower right hand side:

I wonder what would it cost by the pound.

Aktarus Group in Italy. Have fabrics.

Aspen Aerogels, USA. SpaceLoft fabrics PDF's.

Think of it. Thermos cozy. Freezer Bag Cooking cozy.

    ... nice idea there leaftye.

You'll unload at least 15 pounds of useless crap when you get to Neels Gap...it will all be stuff you found easy to rationalize when you were sitting in your nice warm house agonizing over all the neat new toys you bought to put in your pack...your thermos will be in that pile...save your money.

Make coffee again in the morning. I have to ask myself - why are you making coffee at night though?
