I found this site a few days ago actually. Do you prefer the topos (which are often 20+ years old) or the "satellite" photos which tend to be very recent?

For hiking I prefer topos which show elevation changes, streams, and other things that can be difficult to see on satellite images. You may want to look at the same area with a topo map and satellite image and see which you prefer.
Dogs are excellent judges of character, this fact goes a long way toward explaining why some people don't like being around them.

University of New Hampshire has scanned a ton of high quality USGS quads from 1950 +/-. The coverage, I understand, is for all of New England. The following is the link for the Bash Bish Falls quad, which includes northwesternmost Connecticut and Southwesternmost Mass - Everett, Race, Bear and surrounding areas.
