As far as I know, it's not even close to being completed yet, and all the big gaps are in the middle of the trail.
    Don't take anything I say seriously... I certainly don't.

    Default The G.E.T.

Some sections are open because they already existed when this trail was organized. It is by no means complete. A huge work in progress. The section in Ky saw no miles added to the trail in the last year. http://www.greateasterntrail.net/

Have you looked into the Allegheny Trail? I'm thinking about it this year myself but need to learn more.

I have been watching this trail grow.. Contemplating on hiking tha southern sections in August instead of another AT section hike..I know it isn't complete yet, but the AT also started from nothing..And still isn't complete..(Its constantly changing).. I think it is cool to be able to hike a trail that is in the works, instead of one that has been trampled down so much that the roots and rocks are higher than the trail..Don't get me wrong, the AT is my favorite trail, but I say, Hike the GET!!! When it's complete, it will fill Mckayes vision of a complete loop hike on the East Coast...
