Default Class of 2011 - What will you miss the most?

I started thinking about this while making dinner tonight....

I'm going to really, really miss (besides my family of course!) fresh fruits and veggies. Dehydrating's just not the same. It's going to be tough going for days on end without ...

On every single one of our LD trips we always miss the simpleness of a hot shower every day. That's it.

The joy of being on a trail or trek somewhere trumps the idiocy of our modern electronic lives.

I thought of another thing though .... I go thru this on every trip actually. Ice. I use ice in all my drinks (even milk!). The thought of ice waiting for me in town will no doubt be enough motivation to get me thru those long days.

Once you get to the White Mountains you can find ice if you look, We came across snow and ice while removing soil from a large pile. If you dig or look under rocks you can find ice even in July and August.

I love hiking, camping, and the outdoors but I do miss my bed when it's time to go to sleep.

exactly! ....precisely why I'm rigging myself up a hammock ... the ground does not hold any appeal to me anymore, and the thought of laying in mice-ridden shelters is sort of disgusting. I've got a year to get it all figured out, but so far so good.

Fanfiction. I just love to sit down and read a long, well written, angst filled story. I'm going to really have to wean myself off of it before the hike begins, or I'll never last the first week. Thankfully I'm bringing two books with me to get me through (Good Omens and Watchmen).

My daughter loves fan fiction as well. I'm going to experiment with an Archos 5 Internet Tablet that is 3.5 X5 inches and 7 ounces. I want an electronic method to keep my journal, but also wanted to be able to keep some documents and things I make up here at home to have for reference.

One of the abilities of this will be to allow for electronic reading if needed, like fan fiction!

    #1 - girlfriend (of course)
#2 - food gluttony. eating pasta and packets of chicken/tuna just can't match to the indulgence of "hm, i'll go grab a burger" (or burrito or caesar salad) on a whim. But it'll be THAT much better in towns.

Turtle Feet, what kind of hammock are you using?

    Girlfriend - #1 ....good call!

About 2 months ago I bought a Nano 7 & a WBBB. Thinking I could carry the Nano until I need the bug net, and then switch out for the BB, sending some of my heavy clothing home with the Nano to help balance out the weight difference.

Nothing's etched in stone, but so far that's the plan. Do you 'hang'?
