    Default AT Tattoo

Has anyone seen a cool tattoo that people had to commemorate the trail? I don't have a tattoo, but I feel like something like this needs to be remembered. I know it's an odd request, but just curious if anyone has seen anything.

I have seen someone who had the map of the trail done. I think it had their dates as well.

Since I'm on the 20+ year plan, and didn't want to wait til finished to get an AT tat, I went ahead and got mine a few years ago. See my pics. I know others here at WB have gotten AT tat's, some after a thru to commemorate the hike. Maybe you can find them in the photo section. ATTROLL here at WB is getting one of the WB/AT logo later this week, just in time for his thru this year.

I've thought about getting a small BMT logo on one calf (that's the only trail I've completed) and one day have one of the AT logo on the other. Plus, there's going to be an SST logo and a FHT logo to go somewhere by the end of the year.

I don't have one-but if I ever DO, it will probably somehow include the AT on it. If I finish my hike that is (*crossing fingers*).

I've seen yours on a picture here a while back ... It's one of, if not the best, AT tattoos I've seen. Looks good.

Hah, I just noticed that the OP is "The Saint" from Minnesota.

Kind of ironic. If you watch football.

You mentioned you'd seen an AT map tat. May I ask it's placement? I am thinking of the same thing, but don't want to copy anyone.

don't have it yet, but intend on getting "2,178" across the top of my right foot. i've been told that a foot tattoo takes a bit of time to heal (at least a week or so). have to find a week when i won't be hiking anywhere!

as for the AT map tattoo, i've heard about it but have not seen it. supposedly it is inked along the owner's spine.

Pat has a small AT tatoo just above her right ankle. It's only about one inch.

In one of the AT videos there are two brothers doing a thru. One of them had gotten an Indian dream catcher tatt on his upper arm and was having the feathers tattoed on with the name of each state as he completed them.

Thanks Wrangler. I plan on eventually extending the "scene" down the arm a bit, maybe another few inches, to show more grass & my tent on the Max Patch side, and the lake on the Katahdin side.

People get tattoos because when they get drunk. Hiking 6 months through 14 states over 2100 miles seems like reason enough for me.

People get tattoos because when they get drunk.

This is not true what so ever. Mite be in your case, but not in most. You need to get drunk to handle a Tattoo.
Maybe you should not get one
    I don't know
