I'll be starting in GA in early March(or late Feb. because I don't think I'll be able to wait any longer by then.)

Thats why I'm thinking of starting in Feb.

I'll be starting a nobo thru-hike in late february 2011. I would love to hear from people thinking the same thing.

I just did a fifty mile tune-up hike on the knobstone trail in Indiana. It was so damn hot, but I felt strong. I am ready to do the AT.

My trail name? "menochewbacca." (a roundabout sasquatch reference-- I'm 6'6" and 220 lbs.)

I'm a 36 year old married male, college English teacher/poet. Originally I'm from NYC, but I've lived in Louisville, Kentucky for many years. If you want to start in late february 2011, doing lower daily mileage (6-10 miles a day) in the first month of your hike, then consider contacting me. Mature hikers welcome. Sensible (meaning safe) twentysomethings welcome too.

Email? [email protected] Please put NOBO Feb 2011, or something similar, in the subject line.

Sorry to hear that Grampsb. Although, I'm sure taking an extra year to get ready will be alot be better than starting when you're not.

    Thanks Sidebackside
It will give me time to really shake down the gear and experiment with food for the trail.

I'm tempted to push up my start time of April 1st to an earlier date but so far, I'm sticking with the plan. Who knows what the coming months will bring. I'm going to reserve my train ride down to GA in October so I figure if I'm still set on April 1st, it will more or less be in stone by then.

My 68 year old Dad and I have penciled in a start date of March 15, 2011. Beware the Ides!
