You may be tense making that correction, but it's not a correction of tense!

Wow! What a good statistic. This thread ought to be in the Straight Forward section and not in Hiking Humor. A better stat might be the inverse of your formula. That is AT miles hiked per post. Mine would be roughly 101 (6,500 miles divided by 64 posts).

I hope some of the blow hards on this board post their number. Maybe it will encourage people to hike more and post less. Or just post less.

How the heck would anyone know how many miles they've hiked? I've hiked for over 20 yrs and wouldn't have the slightest clue how many miles i've logged, or how it's important... How do you possibly keep track?

Especially when hiking non existant trails, or rather bushwalking.. Yes of coarse you could calculate milage on a map, but why?

    Mine is infinite.

When you divide by zero that is the result.

    Miles hiking / miles resting.

That would require keeping track of my mileage.

As I've said in other threads..my mileage is somewhere between a little and a lot.

    No statistics..here's a photo instead:

It was from a recent trip (2 wks ago) on backcountry skis..so it may have been cheating...

Mags, that run down old cabin reminds me of the one I spent a winter in up in Northern Ontario, minus those beautiful mountains in the background..

You sure live in a beautiful place..

Not many folks know this about Mags, but the beautiful place he lives is all in his head. He actually lives in Camden, NJ

No offense to Camdenites, Used to live there myself way back when.

I still have about 500 posts to get to a 1:1 ratio. I have to get out hiking before that happens.

Ahh.. just what I needed to see today. another thread asking for another bit of worthless information. My head is spinning.

Here is the thing I have noticed over the years....

miles hiked doesnt make you an expert
number of posts doesnt make you an expert.

This is a good case of where quality of input should be measured instead of quantity. A 4 ft pile of BS isnt much better than a 2 ft pile of BS, unless you want to fertilize your garden. Just food for thought. :-P
