Default Major wind event on LT....

A few nights ago we had a major wind event here in Vermont. Here in the valley we had lots and lots of tree damage. I drove up near the trail today and there is some real carnage. If you are leaving on an early season hike on the LT plan on lots of blowdowns especially in the southern half.

Hey Jeff! I was at Grout Pond, similar elevation to the LT in that section, and saw lots of tree damage while tracking a Long Tailed Weasel. Never got a photo of him though!

HIked up to Prospect Rock this morning and did a section towards Stratton just to see what it was like and that area seemed no worse than normal so the damage is probably limited to certain sections.

Here is a pic from Prospect Rock last week. About four feet of snow but it has been warmer and rained all yesterday and last night so I am sure it is less now...

    Hey Bleemus,

I too was at Prospect Rock Saturday March 6th. I kept going south on Rootville Rd trying to get to William Douglas shelter. Without snowshoes...impossible.

Here was a bridge crossing where I decided to stop:

    Jeff,
Looks like you ran into the same conditions as I did. I had snowshoes though but didn't go all the way to Douglas at all as I had an afternoon appointment. Walking on the snowmobile trail with Kahtoolas was easy peasy though!
