Default 2010 TH Companion PDF Available

The ALDHA has made the PDF version of the 2010 Companion available on their web site.

    http://www.aldha.org/comp_pdf.htm

It works fine in my Sony E-reader. It's still a good idea to support the ALDHA and the ATC by purchasing a hardcopy.

I'm carrying the E-reader instead of hard copy because I've got a couple of hundred books in my pack, it weighs less than a Pound, and it runs for up to 2 weeks on a charge.

Thank you. That will be easier to work with on the PC. However it will load too slowly on the E-reader. For that it will be easier to work with the current section.

You should be able to just click on the link in the post. Otherwise you'll have to cut and past or copy it into your browser search window.

Would it help if I knocked the size down to 3 or 4 megs?

Yes as long as it doesn't change the text size or pagination.

I just want to say I think it really awesome of the ADLHA to make this available on the web for free.

Although I bet they do lose a few sales to people who print it out or download it onto a smart phone....I bet they also gain a few from people who have an oppertunity to check it out before buying it.

Either way I don't know any one else that does something like this and I think it is really cool that they do.

    Way to go ADLHA!!!
Love people and use things; never the reverse.

Mt. Katahdin would be a lot quicker to climb if its darn access trail didn't start all the way down in Georgia.

I've bought the books in the past. I downloaded because I just need one state at this point, and I want the current updates. Thanks.

It would be a great show of support for those folks who download the Companion to take a moment and join ALDHA. It's only $10 per year and well worth it !!!! There is a membership application on the website:

It's a .pdf file. You'll need Acrobat Reader (free download) to view it.

Yes, if you don't really want the hard copy join or donate or both instead, they can then sell the hard copy to someone else and maybe will eventually be killing fewer trees with the printing press.

Works fine. The table at the beginning of each section is a bit small. Tables and images don't enlarge with the zoom feature. The Intro is kind of long, but that's easily handled with book marks. Thanks for making it work. It will be with me on the trail this week.

Very cool. I have the hard copy. I'll side-load the PDF to my nook e-reader and see how it works.

I am one of those buyers who viewed the 2009 Guide online and decided I would purchase the 2010 Guide, irregardless if/when it became available on line. I will use this on this years thru-hike (along with the Appalachian Pages). I do like the older Companion Guides that had the spiral pages. They were easier to remove over having to use a razor blade to cut out the pages I would need for each section in my mail drops.

Thanks for the update..I downloaded the doc but do plan on purchasing the hard copy as well..

Can anyone tell me if they went back to the spiral bound version?? I bought the 2009 edition and it wasnt the spiral bound..It was heavy as a brick and and very bulky..My 1996 and 2004 versions are slim and spiral bound and very light weight, (compared to last years)...

Anyway, thanks for the heads up..
