Just wondering were the ME-ga hikers would be around the 4th of July and GA-ME hikers would be around Sept 11? Or are they all so spread out that there is no answer?

I'll be in the 100 mile wilderness.
I drove past the old Worthington's Bakery in NJ (rt. 206/culver's lake) every day and saw a majority of hikers during the fourth of July. It seemed that is about when a lot of the hiker bubble came thru in NJ. I, myself, when thru hiking was in NJ in June.
Last two years that I have had people I know on the trail they hit my place in Pawling NY around the 4th of July and both summited on 9/11.

I was in Gorham, NH July 4 2008. Quite a few NOBOs and SOBOs there, too. But the NOBOs were all over the place, from PA northward. It was probably a bell curve distribution between Harpers Ferry and Katahdin.

hopefully they will be at NATEVA in oxford maine. jammin to some furthur on the fourth nothn more patriotic than goodole grateful dead on the 4th july
I started MEGA on June 13. I spent the 4th in Rangeley, Maine. I had a zero in Monson and slowed up to hit Rangeley on the 4th. A great place to spend the holiday.
Gorham NH does have a lot of Nobos and Sobos in town for the fourth. For some reason a lot of folks like to hang out and check out the bands, fireworks and carnival that is in town for a few days before and during the fourth. Its definitely a throwback to an earlier era.
I have seen some hikers hanging out at Mascot Pond on the Mahoosuc trail and walking into town, but since the relocation it has gotten a bit longer to walk.
If you do come up to visit make sure you get some reservations as the most of the town fills up for this week. Dolley Copp campgrond in the WMNF is a nice option and White Briches in Shelburne has a Hiker hostel and plenty of campsites
