Default Shuttle from Lake Placid to Long Trail (around Middlebury, or elsewhere)

    Hello,

I'm looking to do some hiking before my CDT thru-hike attempt. I'm starting this weekend (depending on when I get a ride) and hiking the Northville-Placid Trail.

I'm trying to extend my trip by a week or so, and I'm looking for a ride from Lake Placid to the Long Trail (Maybe near Middlebury?). I'm extremely flexible, and really would just love to do a week long section on the LT before heading off to Montana on June 28.

I would need the shuttle sometime Next weekend, or early the following week (June 12 - 15 or so). Anyone willing to shuttle? I'll of course pay for gas, etc.

    Thanks,

    Deluxe

try this over at www.viewsfromthetop.com (VFTT) a lot of NE'sters hang out there and might be able to help. You might be able to score a trip back from LP with some NE peakbaggers.
.....Someday, like many others who joined WB in the early years, I may dry up and dissapear....

I love the Long Trail, but if you are looking for another week of hiking, why not stay in the Adirondaks? There are some great trails there. Northville - Placid is a great lowland trail and there are lots of trails to and along the ridges and peaks to follow up with.

VFTT is a very good suggestion, both for trying to get a ride and for getting info on putting together a week of hiking in the daks. Also consider: http://www.adkforum.com/ for either purpose

Lastly, there is an Amtrak shuttle from Lake Placid that would get you to the Amtrak train station in Westport. There is at least one other bus service from Lake Placid. Trailways goes there.
