I don't know that "dry weight" applies... But a liter of water weighs 1 kilogram, or about 2.2 pounds.

1 liter of water by definition = 1 kilogram.

All dehydrated water weighs the same regardless of its original volume.

If you pour it in a bowl and sit it in the sun to dry thoroughly for several days it will weigh next to nothing.

Yes, I believe they call this evaporated condensed water.

Deuterium has an atomic weight of 2.014 Daltons, so we're talking twice the weight of Protium, which comprises over 99.9% of the hydrogen atoms to be found on earth. Oxygen has an atomic mass of 16. So, Protium-based H2O has an atomic weight of 1.007 * 2 + 16 = 18.014, while Deuterium-based H2O has an atomic weight of 2.014 * 2 + 16 = 20.028, or 11.2% more.

If these calculations are correct (and I got them from Wikipedia, so they must be!), and I'm not forgetting something (which I'm sure the physicists out there will catch), then a liter of Deuterium should weigh 2.2046 * 1.112 = 2.45 pounds.

Basically, you can't call yourself an ultralighter if you're carrying Deuterium.

Just carry dehydrated water. It weighs less. At he end of the day, just add water to rehydrate it..So easy, a caveman can do it.
