Default Question about recomended Max weights/base weights?...

when a pack is listed as a recommended base weight of 15 lbs, and a maximum load of 35, does that mean total weight of 50 lbs? Or, is the maximum recommended weight include the base weight, so that only 20lbs of gear is added...just confusing on some of the pack specififications.

    Anybody know?

Base weight would be your gear, then add 20 pounds of food and water for a total of 35 pounds.
