    Default Deuter Packs

I am in the process for saving up for a new pack and I was wondering if anybody had any experience with any of the Deuter packs, specifically the ACT Lite series. I am curious about the durability because the fabric does not seem very tough. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Default Deuter Packs

I have an ACT Lite 65-10 and I love it. I have maybe 100 miles with it and have had no problems. To me it is more sturdy than most of the other packs I have tried. It is on the heavy side, though at 3.5 lbs.

3.5 pounds really isnt all that bad. My last pack was in at 6 pounds. With the ACT 65 I have my Big 4 under 10 pounds at 8.5. It is a very comfortable pack and the air channels really keeps your back cool. I say go for it..

I was having a decison between this and the Golite Odyssey. The Deuter won out..

I have the Aircontact Zero 60+10. I have hiked from Northern GA to MD with it and I love it. Very roomy and very comfortable. I have scraped mine on rock walls and downed trees and it has not been compromised.

That was my only complaint too. Thought the buckles a little small and flimsey, but they seem strong and so far holding up well.

Yeah all the reviews I have read seem to mention that the buckles are weak. I am not that rough with my gear as is so I figure that if I decide to change out the buckles later than I can. I tried it on in the store and it just felt so comfortable that I almost bought it on the spot, but I knew that I should get some more opinions first

Was checking these out recently at a local outfitter, nice and light, cool back design, and the prices were pretty great!

My son carries the ACT Light 65+10. He has had it for three seasons now, it has about 120 miles on the AT and about 95 miles at Philmont in New Mexico. Additionally, he has used it for about 10 weekend trips. He loves the pack, it fits well, carries well and gives him plenty of room to take his share of the crew gear.

His opening weight at Philmont with three liters of water and four days of food was right at 35 pounds and the pack had no trouble with this weight (its rated for more). Several of my other Scouts also own this pack, after checking out my son's pack.

I love this pack, becasue I will never have to purchase another for him as it adjusts to cover all torso lengths.

One last item, while Deuter is not that well known in the US, it is the "Gregory" of Europe.

    Hope this helps.

I think I will go ahead and buy it although I am going to wait a little to see if they go on sale towards the end of summer
