I'm hoping to start April 1, 2012. I'm 63 now but there is no way I'm planning on 20 milses a day. I'm hoping to get into good enough shape to maybe make 12 a day average.

I just did an 18 mile day on the LHHT and it totally kicked my butt. Took me 11 and a half hours. Don't think there is any way I could do that distance day in and day out. Of course you may be in a lot better shape than I am.

I will be 52 when I head north from Springer .....I look to start first week of April....The high desert mountains of Az are a great place to train/hike. Sycamore Canyon( google it ) is my playground, however hunting season will keep me out of there for the next few months. I belong to the " start slow then go slower " camp....If Im still in the game after the first few hundred miles...the milage increase will come......

I'll be 32 when I head out from springer in late feb 2012. I did the Georgia section in 2007 and will be doing it again. I plan on starting out slow 8-10 miles a day, gonna take my time and enjoy every thing.

I want to leave in the last week of february of 2012. I am graduating high school this june. My mom wont let me do a thru-hike unless I hook up with a group/partner. My dates are flexible! If any one is interested let me know! I was planning on training abroad as well as locally before we head out. Good Luck c :

I'll be a 56 yr-old 2012er. Great to start communicating with my AT NOBO hiking family a year in advance!

I planned a 2012 NOBO (thru-hike) but my hiking partner dropped out the other day, so now I need a new hiking buddy. I'm a 36-y.o. female and prefer another female...age doesn't matter as long as you're committed to making it to Katahdin. I'm no speed demon so if you're older, no worries there. I'm looking to start grad school at the beginning of September 2012, so that's my only time constraint. Would like to start March 1st.
