I saw some people a few days ago with water bladders around their waste in a black pouch. Any idea what these were? They seemed to be attached to the hipbelt.

Camelbak has a bag like that...

I know what you're talking about! Very popular with runners...check your local running store for them.
It would be nice if it was lighter that that camelbak, and was integrated with the webbing of your hip belt and front straps rather than being redundant.
Like this? Very popular with runners around here.
Fuel belts are very useful if you're running any distance because you can have different formulas in each one - just water, sports drink, electrolytes, etc.
But I doubt you'd want to hike with one because it'd never work with a hip belt.

Nope nope and nope lol. This was black, silnylon like and attached by lightweight webbing to the hipbelt on the backpack already. I know all about running belts, it was not one of them. One of the two guys wearing it had on a Cuben fiber pack so I imagine either he made it or some UL company makes it. Sorry I should have put forth all of the evidence I had so we could figure out what it was.
