    Default Winter hiking

    Im thinking about some winter hiking in the sect.from rt 60 in va. South to roanoke va. Looking at jan or feb what is the best time and how r the winters down there

    February gives you more daylight. Cold, possibly some snow. Figure some nights in the teens. Not too many people on the trail. Awesome time to be out if you are prepared for winter hiking.

    I have spent some time out there in the winter. I was glad a took my 0* bag more then once.

    hiking in the snow is peaceful. Just check before you head out, just know it's gonna be cold, and possibly a lot of snow if it's anything like last winter

    The trail generally follows the BR Parkway. The Parkway can be closed during this time of year. The weather is a roll of dice, sometimes nice, sometimes snow. IMO winter hiking is some of the best time spent on the trail.
