Are these the same 3 individuals Lone Wolf posted about a few weeks ago?
I think so...
Backpacking light, feels so right.

Good! Have fun in jail hiker bashing scum.
Wilderness is not a luxury but a necessity of the human spirit, and as vital to our lives as water and good bread.

I'm so happy to hear that the police department stuck to the investigation, even when the brothers didn't report the crime they endured to the local police department. I also hope that the brothers bring a civil case against the three criminals, just to bring the full weight of the court system against these three clowns.

Pretty awful to learn about this.
The woods are my sanctuary.
Glad they caught these tool boxes.
Start a jailhouse rumor that they are in for child molestation and let the other inmates take care of the problem.

When and if they are found guilty and are sentenced, I feel that the punishment will more than likely not be appropriate for the crime. And so goes the Justice system.
They should in addition to what ever jail time that they might get, be made to do community service....Maybe under watchful eyes, of the law, they should be made to do some time cleaning up after trail days.
OR........
As they leave after the sentencing phase, all of us hikers should line up in gauntlet style outside on the courthouse steps and make shish-kabob out of the perps with our hiking poles...Now, that would be justice!

Thanks LW, hopefully they will not have to do so at there own expense.

I once saw and episode of 60 minutes or something. It was about a mom whose 18 year old son was killed by another 18 year old who was driving drunk. A very sad thing for everyone involved. She went all the way thru the case and at the last minute dropped the charges. She said she spent a lot of time praying and there was no use wasting 2 lives (not to mention parents, relatives, etc...) over a really bad decsion.
That kid now travels and tells the story of how his life was very nearly over because of one bad choice.
Honestly, I think the people who did this are "really dumb" (to quote Antoine). They probably have serious mental issues with a side of drugs. They will not learn by being locked up, if anything it may be their honor badge. If I could give out punishment, for them it would be to hang out with us hikers. Get to know us. Maybe they should help rebuild a few shelters or do group trail mantainence.
That, I think is the only way they won't do this crazy ****e again. I agree they need to be punished, but sitting in a cell with criminals isn't going to prevent anything.
So, does anyone know the judge?
