I'm not from Chicago and I'm finishing the CDT and CT next yr but if you are around Daley Plaza anytime from now until Dec 24 stop by at the Dinkel's Bakery booth at the German ChrstKindl Market and I'll buy you some hot chocolate and a slice of struedel. Ask for Dogwood.

From Chicago - Lincoln Square to be exact.

Dogwood - do you work at Dinkels or just during the Market?

Buzz Saw - I grew up around Peoria (just north of Chillicothe).

    See you on the trail.

As a fellow Illinois resident, have a great hike! The AT offers so much more (in terms of hiking) then anything we have in Illinois by far. I hike the AT almost every summer, so again, enjoy yourselves my fellow Illini!

I'm from the South Bend Indiana area and looks like I'll be starting my section hike at Springer NOBO in mid September...

It'll take me years, but I plan on doing the whole Trail...

I'm doing a 2 month gig employed by Dinkel's Bakery which has a booth at the German ChirstKindl Market. I don't work at the bakery location on N. Lincoln(near Belmont) per say but I am there every morning and evening. I thru-hiked the PCT in 2008 with Eric Dinkel.

Nah, the approach trail from Chicago is way too long.

I lived on N. Lincoln Park West for a few months last spring - does that count? Found a great sleeping room for $480 including utilities, couldn't pass it up!

I'm in SW Michigan now - only an hour and a half drive to downtown - fancy seeing an Elkhart neighbor here!

Buzzsaw and Gramps are leaving for Springer on 4/14. We are both from the Chicago area, however Buzz now lives in Peoria and I live in South Carolina. When are you thinking of leaving?
