    I wish my gear was that light but I have a GF.
    I am going to e working on my weight this month. I am hoping to get my base weight down under 20. My big 4 + bear can is more then your base weight.

    very light - mid September is a great time. Days are short, so you need to get your miles in fast, unless you hike with a headlight. It gets pretty cold at night, even when the weather is warm for the season. Above 8500 feet plants are dead or dying from the first frosts and when a bad storm rolls in, it can snow for 2 days.

    No worries about bugs - the skeeters will be dead that time of year. I saw one mosquito in September '09 and it was too cold for it to move.

    All true. I hiked the JMT in Sep, 2008 and we had several nights in the low 20's with strong winds. Luckily we only had 2 hours of precipitation during our trip and it was at Woods Creek.
