I hit 50 in Feb. My start window is between 20-31 March. Will narrow it down once I figure out my last day of work. I do not plan to do the approach trail.

of course you will meet hikers of all ages. don't understand your thread. do you think hikers of your own age will like you.
I'm so confused, I'm not sure if I lost my horse or found a rope.

i sense a tone of agression in which i don't understand. I expect to meet hikers ofall ages Kayak Karl,it's nice to know there are others ot there in the same age bracket.

32 year older here. Does the ATC keep stats on the ages of thru's? I'd imagine the after college crowd and the after retiring crowd creates somewhat of a reverse bell curve with our age in the center.
No man should go through life without once experiencing healthy even bored solitude in the wilderness, finding himself depending solely on himself and thereby learning his true and hidden strength.

no agression was far from what i was implying. ignorance would be a better word. once you hit the trail you will find age is not what brings hikers closer to each other.

    Default Crispy Old Guy Here

I will be 41 years young when I pass under the Arch at Amicalola Falls State Park to begin my Thru hike March 15th 2011.
I suppose I will turn 42 somewhere on my way through Viginia.
The great thing about being a somewhat older hiker is that as parts of me fall off on these hikes, and they have, I can appreciate the event as "weight savings".
