    Default Misplaced Shenandoah Map

I'm heading out for a short 3 day hike on Sunday but I seem to have misplaced one of my Shenandoah maps- of course the one that I need. There's no time to order another one, so does anyone know if I'll be able to purchase a map from the park during the winter months? If not I guess I'll just be using my Thru-Hiker's Handbook and hope it gets me by okay.

    Thanks!

There's got to be an outfitter close by to where you live that would have the SNP maps. At the very least you'll drive by a town that has an outfitter on the way there. Yes, the rangers will have maps. Some free and nice ones for sale.

REI in Fair Lakes has PATC maps. Blue Ridge outfitters in Warranton (behind Panera bread shop) probably has them too.

Not much trail detail on the SNP handout maps.

Hiking Upward has a lot of Shen's trails plotted out:

If you live in Ashburn your best bet is the REI in Fairfax.

Forgot to add this link to NPS maps. Decent maps, but no contour lines one the one I viewed.

You should also try EMS in Ashburn, they are right off 28 and Atlantic BLVD.

Which section? If you are doing the south section and all else fails to produce a map replacement before you leave. You can try Rockfish Gap Outfitters, at the foot of the mountain in Waynesboro on US 250 west of Skyline Drive. They usually carry all the sections and are open until 6pm.
Hope that this helps....Have a good hike.

    Spider,
I emailed maps of the section you're hiking.

You can print a TOPO Map HERE

Click and drag the map to the area you want, then go to File and Print.

Right click on the map and you will get the coordinates at the point you clicked.

Thanks all for your help and input! Less sent me his extra central SNP map, so hopefully it'll arrive on Saturday in time for my hike!

If you are starting in Front Royal, there is a place called Royal Oak bookshop. They have the maps for the park and the trail on other side of the park. As far of buying it at the park I wouldn't count on it, as i'm not sure if any of the places is open. I hiked to the road and stayed there for about 15 mins last week and only car I saw was a snow plow.

Turns out you can purchase maps from the entrance station to the park for $6 year round. Just so you all know for next time!
