    Smile Raven Rock Shelter

    Hi!
According to ATC, the new Raven Rock Shelter is OPEN. It's located W of AT at old Devils Racecourse shelter Trail. Water is down old shelter trail. Good Luck,thru-hikers!

that picture is after my visit (and before they cleaned up the building supplies). sadly, they removed my "modification" to the fire pit bench. i had placed a waste board in the slot for a back rest - worked like a charm!

hands down the nicest shelter in Maryland.

Shared the old Devil's Racecourse Shelter with a couple of thru's one rainy night, dang thing leaked like a sieve! Nice water source as I recall. Still kind of sad to see an old shelter reach the end of its service, a lot of memories were made there.

Just passed through this Shelter this weekend. Awesome shelter, kudos to the volunteers who built it. We had a long trek up in the pouring rain up the Raven Rocks and when we arrived at the Shelter it was full of a freshman orientation group from John Hopkins. They were super noisy so we tented it. A word of advice for this shelter, fill up your water before you get to the shelter because it is a half mile going north or south to get water.
