Thread: VA Mileage

    Default VA Mileage

I no longer have my data book, and am wondering about AT mileage between Catawba and that weird town with all the dinosaurs in it, in Virginia.

    Anyone have that?

That "weird" town is Glasgow ...but sorry, I'm at work and don't have access to my mileage guide. I'm sure someone else will be able to give you that answer.

Catawba to Glasgow is around 90 miles.
The only thing better than mountains, is mountains where you haven't been.

For a minute, I thought you were referring to Front Royal. Dinosaur Land is a few miles north of town on US 340. It's an old fashioned tourist trap, along the same lines as snake farms. The place is filled with statures of dinosaurs, and there's a big souvenir shop with every kind of junk you can imagine.

What dinosaurs are in Glasgow VA?

Pretty much the same, less the amusement park. The local gas station, mini-mart and grocery store all have larger than life dinosaurs out front. It was quite a site driving into Glasgow from the James River crossing in 2003. I thought I had landed in Jurassic Park.

    1. The dinosaurs in Glasgow are all over the place (great big plastic ones
that you can find in front of just about avery local business. I don't
know where theycame from, but they've been there awhile.
    2. Lone Wolf's mileage is correct (it comes from the 2004 Data Book, which
is, at present, the most accurate work of its sort available.
    3. The mileage of the Trail changes every year; this is yet another reason for
2005 hikers to make sure they obtain the most up-to-date, reliable books
    and Guidebooks available to them.

    Default 2005 Data Book

The 2005 Data Book is off the press. I received one for Christmas.

Also received my new Wingfoot by Priority Mail Saturday 1/8, ahead of the promised date!

Have NOT received the 2005 Companion yet, but have it back-ordered thru ATC.
