    Red face Pack Separation Anxiety

The time has come - time to box up my pack with all life's necessities for the next 6 months - and send it off to the Hiker Hostel. I can't believe I'm even saying it - 9 days and counting....

    Yikes!

    Default 10 days and counting!

    Congratulations Turtle Feet!
10 days and counting here! I am gonna risk it and take my pack with me on the plane.
I have my 4 flat rate boxes for shoes and socks ready for my "box mailer".
Doesn't seem possible that we will soon be living on the trail does it?
Hope to see you both out there. I am looking forward to seeing what Georgia looks like. All these place names are finally going to become real to us.
We are so lucky to live in this great country and enjoy the freedoms and protections we have. Thanks to the Men and Women of the armed forces, past and present, who keep us free to hike these trails!

Yeah Crazystick - it IS the first time my pack has made a trip without me... lol. Come to think of it - my pack is going to see GA before I do!

Iceaxe - I'm sure you'll catch me before we reach Neels! We ARE lucky! Lucky is barely a worthy enough word.

Good luck! Your posts are among the more coherent and useful on these forums... any chance you'll be keeping a trail journal with any regularity?

Hi Jersey Tim! Yes to journaling - www.postholer.com/Turtle Feet

I'll be perfectly honest - in the real world, I'm terrible at journaling. I'm very inconsistent with my updates, but I think it will be different this time. I have so much invested in this trip, and have engaged so many friends and family members, I can't help but keep everyone posted on my progress.

I had a dream last night that I got to the Hiker Hostel and opened my box, there was my pack, but when I opened the pack it was empty! LMAO!!! OK, I'm pretty sure that's not going to happen, but....

I'll be starting on the 17th, so maybe I'll see ya along the way! If you do hit any snags let me know. I'm not too far from the trailhead.

Cool, I'll be rooting for you! Watch for some summer trail magic if you hit the Pochuck boardwalk on a weekend.

TF I will see you out there on the 13th. I'll be hitting the approach trail that morning. Probably have my dad and at least one brother starting with me at least for a few miles (or days, who knows).

Turtle, that link is defunct - try this for weather updates on Springer:

thanks F-stop! Yes, you've got to sqeeze /peaks/ in there. Don't know how accurate, but for those out there right now, it looks like Wednesday the 9th is going to be a b#t@h! I think I saw 65mph winds on Tray?

I wish ALL of us could be meeting up on Springer on the 13th, but alas, next year when all of you "2012'ers" are ready to head out, I'll be drooling over my keyboard, entertaining the question of how long it would take for my husband to notice my pack & I were gone again!
