Default AT NOW a TOURIST ATTRACTION?

Is the AT a "Tourist Attraction"
In April 2,2011 Jacksonvill, Fla newspaper the is a story about a man that will do the At from start to the end.
You can read his blog starting on 4/3/2011 at jacksonville.com/perschelappalachiantrail.
HE states "some hikers sleep in motels or bed and breakfast every night because the trail has become a tourist attraction."
Do you think that the AT is a Tourist Attraction?

Go to Newfound Gap on a sunny weekend and ask that again.
If you find yourself in a fair fight; your tactics suck.

That's ok, wasn't really a question to you. I was under the impression that articles must be reviewed prior to posting, guess I was wrong.

Maybe I can get my name in the newspaper. I'm starting on Thursday. Should I call the local rag and tell them?

Wait a few weeks till you get back, then call them.
The trouble I have with campfires are the folks that carry a bottle in one hand and a Bible in the other.
You never know which one is talking.

I decided against it. I don't want to have to fend off the papparazzi. I'll just have to become famous some other way.

Hmm, check out the photo of his "28-pound backpack". I guess that's 28 pounds empty?

    Default Tourist attraction?

If he thinks it's a tourist attraction and you can sleep in a motel bed every night and have a breakfast each day, he will probably be one of the 80%.

"Do you think that the AT is a Tourist Attraction?"

No, the AT is NOT a tourist attraction; various parks along its length are and many people at those parks check-out the AT, but it isn't the main attraction.

P.S. Anyone find this hiker's online journal? I followed a link in the newspaper article, but it went nowhere.

All I know is that when I hiked the AT - BMT loop this morning, the trail was replete with thru hikers. One poor soul had already quit by Three Forks.
