sleeping bag question

i'm pretty much set with gear....just have a question about the sleeping bag. I have a zero and a 30 degree bag...should I bring the zero or the 30? 30 with a good liner? or start with one and then switch to another?

What kind of clothing (jacket, etc) you bringing for camp to supplement your bag? I can get at least 10 degrees of extra comfort from clothing.

Do you sleep cold or warm compared to the rating on the bag?

Personally only, I would go with the 30°, but I sleep warm.

A true 30F bag should be OK, especially if there's room for some clothes inside. A "30F" bag that's only good to 40F might be cold. The min temp for June at Millinocket is about 40F, maybe colder as you head towards the White Mts. What brand is the 30 bag? http://www.wunderground.com/history/...q_statename=NA

With a June 12 start, be sure to remember the DEET and headnet. Have fun.

I have the Marmot Hydrogen...just washed it properly with down wash and dried it and it fluffed right up nice like it was new. I think I'll just bring the 30 and have the zero on stand-by to be sent to me if i need it later in the trip. I also have a great Western Mountaineering down jacket.

FYI...I have changed my start date to June 21st.

I have that exact liner, seems well mad but I haven't had the chance to use it yet.

Amazon says it offers 10degrees warmth, not sure if i'd agree with that, it does seem rather thin! Then again, I've yet to spend a night in it.

i'm heading sobo in early july and am also carrying the marmot hydrogen...used it many times in maine from july - october with no issues...love the bag....and only 21 oz....i have the older model with a 3/4 zipper...hope you have a great hike

I'll throw my hat into the ring. SOBO starting at northern terminus verse NOBO starting at southern terminus is different!!!

Newer full lofting Marmot Hydrogen, June 12 NOBO AT start date, tent or AT shelter(adds warmth), some clothing you can also sleep in, and that 30* bag should do it. 0* bag would be way overkill in this situation. Further north though you will have to switch out.

SOBO, with everything else the same, whew, cutting it too damn close for sleeping comfortably with a 30* sleeping bag. I would take a warmer sleeping bag going SOBO.

I just carry a 0 year round, and use it partway, or not at all. I don't like owning a lot of stuff, or anything I absolutely don't need. I have been using a 0 year round for years.

I have a Grand Trunk Silk Liner. My outfitter told me that silk liners add about 1 degree extra of warmth. I have used it and still froze all night.
