I have heard that Texas still has the option to become it's own country. Part of that whole Alamo outcome I think. We're probably stuck with Maine.

I lost all respect for Canadians when they blew their chance to get rid of the Frenchies.

Urban legend. Texas tried seceding with the rest of the Confederacy, and that didn't turn out so well. There WAS a special provision when Texas joined the Union, but it was that Texas could choose to sub-divide into five states if it wanted. That right was never exercised. Texas just gave up part of its land to form New Mexico.

    Talking

Most States were like my home state of South Carolina, and never hitched-up with the AT in the first place, thus gittin' it right from the git-go this time around and avoided signing up for a lifetime commitment, then later wanting to renege.

You know how it is with some States, "covenant marriages" are only for all the little people.

Florida refused to be a part of this trail, built it's own and then was invaded by Yankees....AGAIN.

The Harper's Ferry area is talking about going back to being a part of VA. No more 4 State Challenge if that happens. We'll I guess it could be the 4 States Minus One Challenge.

Not true, they are the only state to join the union under treaty. But there was a little skirmish about 150 years ago that proved our government would not allow them to leave. They did try to leave, ONCE!
