You should try wool pants. Once you hit the crotch with the second cup, and it does take a second cup, they retain the scalding hot temperatures extremely well.

    That's just mind boggling.

OK, I looked it up and did the math. At this pace, it will take him 9 more days to reach Damascus VA. That is an incredible speed. Of course this doesn't take into account any resupply time in towns.

    Go for it Nature Boy!

Looks like this is the Trail Running and Speed Hiking forum.
    Oh wait a minute...it is.

He's carrying all his stuff on his unsupported hike so it doesn't matter if he walking, running, or anything in between.

Exactly. He's averaging about 3.3 mph, so I'd wager he's hiking and not running.

The line between slow running and fast hiking is a blurry one.

I suspect he is just hiking at 3+ MPH pace and doing it all day.

Besides, as has been pointed out, this is the trail running/speed hiking forum.

He told me before he left that his plan is to walk the uphills, and run the downhills/flats. He has 15 mail drops for resupply and if he has to he'll go into town. He plans on making it to Damascus for Trail Days.

Is it okay if we never understand the crap that you're trying to say? Because I don't, and I don't think a lot of other people do either.

That's why there is an ignore button, use it. Matty rocks.
