Default Logistics Pen Mar to Harpers Ferry or Reverse

Family of 4 looking to do PenMar to HF or HF to PenMar North or South it doesnt' matter. This would be July 1-July 4th. (maybe starting the night of the 30th of June depends on travel) We live in Pennsylvania, and are wondering what might be avaiable or what options are best.

    1. A shuttle? Any ideas
    2. We take two cars and shuttle the entire disistance.
    3. we leap frog our veichles

We were talking and a shuttle would be our preference.

    Thanks

I suggest leaving your car in the Park Service lot in Harpers Ferry, getting a shuttle to Pen Mar, and hiking south. Your car will be safe and hiking into Harpers Ferry is fun. Don't miss the views of the Potomac from Weverton Cliffs just before the descent from the ridgeline.

Consult the ATC's shuttle list for your ride.

Hope the weather cools down for your hike.

I left my car in Pen Mar at a safe lot across from the trail and got shuttled down to Harpers Ferry and hiked NOBO. I usually prefer to finish at a point that's gonna reduce my drive time back home. From the ATC shuttle list that Cookerhiker posted I used "rosesniffers" and would use them again. Have a great hike.

Default Pen Mar to Harpers Ferry

We recently did this as a 1 day benefit hike but recommend it as a 3-4 day backpack. We did it as a shuttle, left some cars in Harpers Ferry and then drove to PenMar.

It is posted on our website: http://www.hikingupward.com/OMH/MarylandChallenge/

We also used this site while we were planning this hike:

I've left vehicles at Pen Mar twice now for a few days each time with no problem. There is a big lot across the street and I've heard that the locals keep an eye on it.

In April we used The Inn at Harper's Ferry for a shuttle back to Pen Mar and they were great, even picked us up early and drove us into town for a bit when the C&O Towpath was flooded for just a few extra bucks.

I'm not the OP but, I did this South to North last year. Left my truck at Pen Mar and got a shuttle to HF. At that time Laurel from Tea Horse Hostel was still shuttling and running the hostel. Not sure if the Hostel is still in operation.

I will also be out there hiking from penmar to HF. I will be using the teahorse hostel for parking ($3/night) but will be using hostelhiker shuttle to get to penmar (a tad bit cheaper than teahorse).
