    Default Sam Waddle

I received an email from Jumpstart informing me that Sam Waddle, former caretaker of Jerry's Cabin (Remember the shelter with the phone and electric light--non working, of course) passed away. According to the email, his body is at Kiser Funeral Home in Greeneville, Tennessee.

Never criticize a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes. That way, you're a mile away, and you've got his shoes.

    Default Yes, another one gone.

Yes, Sam Waddle died yesterday. There was
a message from his wife, Zella, on my answering machine when I got home
last night. Sam will certainly be remembered for his long years of
service to the AT as the caretaker of Jerry Cabin shelter, maintainer of
the Trail in that section, and friend to many a hiker. In case anyone
wants to send condolences, the address is: Mrs. Sam Waddle, 436 Sam Waddle
    Lane, Chuckey, TN 37641-6450.

Thanks for sending Zella's address along to everyone, Linda.
