Default Silver Hill Campsite water pump working?

Has anyone been to Silver Hill Campsite lately? Wanted to know if the water pump is working again.
    Thanks,
    Greg

When I passed through there last week, Wednesday, June 8th, the pump worked. Nice new swinging bench too.

It works after about 30 pumps but I wouldn't drink the water due to the very high iron content, The water comes out brown, Also there was water about 100 yards down the trail.

Is that east or west of the camp site?

Maybe you can filter to water.

the water is OK if you let the rust settle out or you filter it. I would not drink it strait from the pump.

If it settles out, my bet is that the "iron" is actually rust (OK, that's iron oxide!) getting washed off the pipe. Sounds like the well needs a good flushing.

Unsightly, I agree, and probably bad tasting, but it's not going to hurt you.

There was water south of the campsite, Some of the Boyscouts I was with did drink the water without issue and I tried a small amount but really would pass on it.

Who knows maybe by now it's all flushed of the rust.

I was there last week (stopped there for a break), and the pump was not working. My buddy pumped it several times, and nothing came out. There was also a note at the small stream South of there that recommended getting water from the stream due the the pump not working.

My friend and I camped there in late June. I had to pump at least 30 times before any water came out. Kind of rusty also!

As the log book says 30-40 pumps, viola, water! It was rusty, so I had to filter it. The next morning it came out clear!?

I've used pitcher pumps at campsites before where the water came out clear, but even after filtering the water I'd have it in my water bottles and if it were exposed to the sun I'd look at it 5 or 10 minutes later and the water was a cloudy orange. All I can think is that there were tiny particles of iron from the pipe that began to rust when exposed to the heat from the sun.

Could be a bad foot valve,or the water soarce it self is suseptable to clarity changes due to rain or run off.

I stopped in for a visit at Silver Hill Campsite on May 6. Everything seemed in good order, and the pump was working. I didn't actually use water from here, so I can't comment on water quality.

I shot a quick video tour of the area:
