Default Hostel opening in Harpers Ferry

I would like to announce the opening of the Teahorse Hostel in Harpers Ferry. It will be open weekends starting Friday, March 25. This summer it will be open daily.

It's located at 1312 Washington St., a half mile west of the ATC which is also on Washington St. Phone number is 304-535-6848. There is a male bunkroom and a female bunkroom, a common area and a fully equipped kitchen. Linens and a towel are provided. Sorry -no laundry facilities.

The hostel is closed during the day from 9 to 4:30 so that I can do cleaning and run errands.

The website www.teahorsehostel.com will be up in a few days.

It's a small hostel but I hope to make all feel welcome.

Congratulations !!! This is a welcome addition to Harpers Ferry.

Be sure and clearly outline your policy on:

    • Alcohol
    • Smoking
    • Hikers with Dogs
    • Work for stay

Hikers knowing the rules up front helps, but you will need to enforce them from day one.

Thanks for all of your comments! I wanted to announce the hostel but not really advertise from FORUM, since that doesn't seem like the real purpose of whiteblaze.net. I am getting the website ready as soon as possible (maybe later tonight) - in the meantime - please send questions to [email protected].

Just in time for those waterlogged hikers from the north and from the south, I have added a washer and dryer to Teahorse Hostel. $2 to wash and $2 to dry. Soap provided.

    Default New services at Teahorse

    Teahorse now has

    • laundry ($4 per load for guests and $5 for nonguests) - soap provided
    • internet free for guests (Wifi and computer both available)
    • shower, foam mattress bunk, waffle breakfast (included in price of $28 plus tax)
    • shuttle to Walmart for guests only (small fee charged)

Please do not call about getting a shuttle to Walmart if you are not a guest - I only have time to do this once a day for my guests.

Haven't had a chance to visit or see the hostel yet, but have heard nothing but positive things from lots of guests.....the place is friendly, well run, and spotless. Also, this is a tourist town, everything is more expensive in Harpers Ferry (this is the home of the eleven dollar cheeseburger) , so $28.00 is eminently reasonable for what folks are getting here.
