    Thumbs down

Very sad. I also stayed there in 2006. My wife came up along with my dog to spend the night even though I live an hour from his lodge. A super nice guy who let me use his truck to head into town for resupply. Could not ask for a nicer person. Hope he is ok. He is pretty old.

Agreed, Bob is one very special trail friend but the suspense is really getting me. Don't leave us hanging TJ!

SO, IS HE OKAY?!? Does anyone know? I stayed several nights there last year. He shuttled me a bit when I was frustrated near the end...

I stayed there in '08 and thought Bob was a wonderful guy. He was friendly, helpful, and humorous. Gull Pond was a beautiful place, too.
    I too hope he's OK.

I called to check on Bob and had a nice conversation with his adult grandson. Bob simply chose to retire and enjoy his family this summer and hopefully for many summers to come. He is NOT in declining health....just wants to slow down.

His grandson was grateful to know how many AT hikers appreciate all the service Bob offered over his many years running Gull Pond Lodge.
