    Default Hiking Suggestions in Denali

I always get a lot of good advice for trips here, so I wanted to ask for suggestions on this trip.

I am headed up to Alaska next month and will have a week to hike in Denali!! I know there are no trails and you have to get your permit in person 24 hours before. Both of which I love and think is the best way of handling it of any national park I been to. No applying months in advice to hope to get the right trip.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a week hike? I will be having my girlfriend with me on this as well. I have all of our gear sorted out and we are in decent shape. I wanted to keep the miles low, around 10 per day with the option to blow off a day or two if the weather is bad or if we come across a great spot. I have a map and GPS and will be able to handle the navigation part. I also know my limits and will not be doing any hard core mountaineering or any glacier travel.

I would like to see a glacier and go up high. She has been on some hikes and overnights but this will be her first week. I want to make sure we hit some high points (rivers, waterfalls, views mountains).

    Thanks in advance.

The Eilson loop is a very nice three day trip. IF its clear you can expect great views of "the mountain" glaciers and wildlife. No doubt there is a currrent hiking guide to the park available perhaps this will do. http://www.denaliguidebook.com/denali_guidebook.htm Expect rain and mosquitoes, as well as bears, moose, foxes, and all manner of other wildlife. When getting permits, be sure to aske if the person serving you has personally hiked suggested areas, their experience varies wildly, as in most parks.

Try and budget a day for a by boat glacier tour. If you are near enough the coast. Anchorage is close to the port.
